The European Commission published an article, stating that "CityxChange project partner IOTA Stiftung has been selected as a key innovator within the European Commission’s Innovation Radar initiative that identifies high-potential innovations and innovators in EU-funded research and innovation framework programmes and assesses their market readiness."

A report on "bankability of the demonstrated innovations" regarding the EU-funded +CityxChange initiative describes the role and achievements of the IOTA-integrated energy surplus building in Trondheim, generating and storing data in regard to two-way e-MaaS vehicle chargers, building heat pumps and solar panels on the IOTA Tangle, as well as a energy marketplace enabled by IOTA token-based microtransactions.

The +CityXChange proposal was invited by the European Commission to become a new smart city lighthouse project.
